We are the ones who approach the Father in prayer asking Him to search our hearts, show us our ways, and cleanse us from the hidden sins of the heart. When we pray for God to show us any “sinful way”, we are asking Him to reveal the things we do that are against His ways, that reside in our hearts. That may be fear, anger, apathy, worry, unforgiveness…the list can go on and on.
In my own life, the Lord God usually works on one thing at a time. I will hear a sermon, read a passage from the Bible, respond to His voice during prayer. I found a prayer I prayed in 2017 that relates to this subject. I will share my heart cry from that season of my life. “Cleanse me Lord, from the need to be seen, to have recognition and validation from anyone else but You. I receive this in Jesus’ Name today. Show me my heart, forgive and heal me.”
The Lord answered me like this: “I am healing you, I have cleansed you. I, your God am drawing you closer to Me, to My ways, to My heart. I am and will use to you harvest many souls. The deep cry of your heart will be answered in the days ahead.”
As soon as I prayed, the Lord answered, forgave and healed me. He then told me what will come next…that part is private to me, so I will not share it. Be encouraged today to call upon the Lord. Don’t let the shame of sin, known or unknown, to keep you from His presence. Run to God when you are caught in sin, when you are walking in victory, when you are tested-any time, any place and any where. Stay close to the Lord. He is not shocked at your sin, He knows all about you.
Lord, help us run to you when conviction fills our hearts. Let us allow You to show us our hearts, become strong in you and learn to resist temptation when it presents itself to us. Thank You Lord, for always being open to the cry of your children. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
“God, examine me and know my mind. Test me and know all my worries. Make sure that I am not going the wrong way. Lead me on the path that has always been right.”
” People cannot see their own mistakes, so don’t let me commit secret sins.”
” Scrub away my guilt. Wash me clean from my sin.”
” Dear friends, we have these promises from God. So we should make ourselves pure—free from anything that makes our body or our soul unclean. Our respect for God should make us try to be completely holy in the way we live.”
“9 But if we confess our sins, God will forgive us. We can trust God to do this. He always does what is right. He will make us clean from all the wrong things we have done.”
